<조흥 2023>_배다리의 오래된 공간, 조흥상회에서 기록한 2023년의 시간들.

우리는 매순간 만나, 인연을 맺고, 시간을 함께하고 헤어지는 과정을 반복하며 살아갑니다. 사람과 물건, 시간과 공간 또한 그러합니다.

이 모든 일들이 어떻게 시작되어 어디로 가는지 알 수 없지만, 한 공간에서 역할을 다한 것이 또 다른 공간과 누군가에게 닿아 새로운 의미로 이어지는 일은 아름답습니다.

오래된 물건이 새로운 주인을 만나고, 낯선 사람들이 한 공간에서 머물다 떠나며, 사라진 줄 알았던 기억이 다른 시간 속에서 모습을 드러내기도 합니다.

조흥상회 역시 그러한 흐름 속에 존재해 왔습니다. 과거의 시간을 품은 채 현재의 사람들과 만나고, 새로운 이야기를 만들어 갔던,

스쳐간 사람과 물건들, 그리고 그 공간에 머물렀던 흔적을 담고 있습니다.

이곳을 지나간 수많은 만남과 이야기들이 앞으로도 새로운 모습으로 이어지기를 바랍니다.

We live our lives through a repeated process of meeting in every moment, forming bonds, sharing time, and parting ways. This holds true for people and objects, as well as for time and space.

While we cannot know how all these things begin or where they are headed, there is a distinct beauty when something that has fulfilled its role in one space reaches another space and someone else, continuing as a new meaning. An old object meets a new owner, strangers linger in a space before departing, and memories thought to have vanished reveal themselves once more in a different time.

Choheung Sanghoe, too, has existed within such a flow. Holding onto the times of the past, it met with the people of the present and created new stories. This work captures the people and objects that brushed past, alongside the traces left behind in that space.

It is my hope that the countless encounters and stories that have passed through this place will continue to endure in new forms ahead.
