아차도 이야기 Achado Story

세상으로 태어나서 보니 거기가 섬이었다. 
사방은 바다로 막혀 더 이상 밖으로 나아갈 수가 없는데, 날개가 없었다.
산모퉁이를 돌아서 오는 연락선에는 기다리는 소식이 있었고, 연락선이 떠나간 선창가에는 쓸쓸함만 남아 있었다.

바다의 한가운데에 떠 있는 섬은 육지의 일부이다.
강을 건너고 산을 넘어 교통이 이루어지듯 섬 또한 바다를 건너며 육지와 교류하고 공존한다.
서로 생활하는 환경의 차이에 의해서 독특한 다른 문화를 가지고 살아갈 뿐이다.
섬은 육지에 정서적.자연적 풍요를 나누어주고, 육지는 섬에 문명과 삶의 방도를 제공한다.

섬사람들은 꿈과 기회를 찾아서 육지로 떠나고, 남아 있는 사람들은 기다림을 가지고 살아간다.
섬으로 오는 사람들은 잠시 다녀갈 뿐이지만,
사람들에게 섬은 가슴속에 자리하고 있는 고향이며 어머니의 품속과도 같은 곳이다.

섬으로 돌아가는 길은 연락선을 기다리던 옛 기억을 떠올리며 가슴이 설레는 길이다.
이른 새벽 출항을 위해 불을 환히 밝힌 카페리가 활기찬 하루의 시작을 알린다.
이제 선창은 쓸쓸 하지만은 않다.

When I was born into this world, I found myself on an island. Blocked by the sea in all directions, I could no longer move outward, yet I had no wings. The ferry coming around the mountain bend carried the news I was waiting for, while the dock left behind after its departure held nothing but loneliness.

An island floating in the middle of the sea is, in fact, a part of the mainland. Just as transportation is made by crossing rivers and climbing mountains, an island also crosses the sea to exchange and coexist with the mainland. They simply live with a uniquely different culture shaped by the differences in their living environments. The island shares emotional and natural abundance with the mainland, while the mainland provides the island with civilization and the means of living.

Island people leave for the mainland in search of dreams and opportunities, while those who remain live with a sense of waiting. Those who come to the island visit only for a short while, but to people, the island is a hometown nestled in their hearts—a place like a mother's embrace.

The way back to the island is a path that makes the heart flutter, bringing back old memories of waiting for the ferry. In the early dawn, a car ferry brightly lit for departure announces the start of a vibrant day. Now, the dock is no longer just a lonely place.
