사진 연작 'The Zone'(더 존)은 방사능 오염과 환경적 재앙이 인간의 평범한 일상과 삶의 터전을 어떻게 위협하고 격리하는지를 강렬하고 초현실적인 비주얼로 고발하는 시리즈이다. 작가는 체르노빌 원전 사고의 유산과 방사능 오염 지대를 상징적으로 드러내는 'Zone'이라는 설정을 통해, 붉고 어둡게 왜곡된 대지 위에 방독면을 쓴 인물들과 투명한 큐브 안에 격리된 평범한 이들을 대조시킨다. 이 격리된 큐브는 오염된 외부로부터 보호받는 유일한 안전지대처럼 보이지만, 동시에 인간이 자연과 분리되어 인공적인 틀 내에 갇혀 지내야만 하는 비극적인 미래를 상징한다. 눈에 보이지 않는 방사능의 위협을 시각화한 강렬한 색감과 연출은 관객에게 시각적 충격을 안기며, 환경 파괴와 인류의 생존에 대한 무거운 경고와 깊은 성찰을 이끌어낸다. 

The photographic series 'The Zone' is a powerful, surreal visual indictment of how radioactive contamination and environmental catastrophe threaten and isolate ordinary human life and habitats. Evoking the legacy of the Chernobyl disaster, Zholobak places ordinary people—children, elders, pregnant women—inside transparent cubical structures, isolated against a distorted landscape of dark, crimson tones and flanked by figures in gas masks holding radiation symbols. This isolated cube appears to be a sanctuary from the contaminated environment, yet it simultaneously symbolizes a tragic future where humanity is severed from nature, confined within artificial boundaries. By rendering the invisible threat of radiation into striking visual forms, the series delivers a profound warning about environmental destruction and human survival, prompting deep contemplation.
