극지의 해양에서 - 행성의 숨소리 Breath of the Planet

극지의 해양에서는 대한민국 극지연구소 연구원들이 직접 촬영한 양극지의 풍광을 통해, 우리가 일상에서 결코 마주할 수 없는 바다의 또 다른 얼굴을 보여줍니다. 끝없이 펼쳐진 얼음과 부빙 사이의 항행은 그 자체로 압도적인 아름다움을 지니지만, 동시에 가장 먼 곳에서 가장 먼저 변화를 감지하는 지구의 예민한 피부이기도 합니다. 극지의 해양이 내쉬는 숨소리는 곧 행성 전체의 건강을 알리는 신호입니다. 이 전시는 숭고한 풍광을 감상하는 즐거움과 함께, 그 아름다움이 우리가 지켜 내야 할 미래의 가치임을 조용히 환기합니다. 가장 먼 바다가 보내온 이미지가 결국 우리 모두의 현재를 향한 물음으로 되돌아옵니다.

From the Polar Seas: Breath of the Planet

From the Polar Seas presents, through images of both poles captured firsthand by researchers of the Korea Polar Research Institute, another face of the sea that we can never encounter in everyday life. To sail among the endlessly unfolding ice and drifting floes is in itself overwhelmingly beautiful, and at the same time it is the earth’s most sensitive skin, the farthest place where change is detected first. The breath drawn by the polar seas is a signal announcing the health of the whole planet. Together with the pleasure of beholding sublime scenery, this exhibition quietly reminds us that this beauty is a future value we must protect. The image sent from the farthest sea returns, in the end, as a question directed at the present of us all.
