Riverside

The Lancang River is a great international river that originates in China, flows through Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam before entering the Pacific Ocean. It is also the Mother River for the many ethnic groups along its banks. The highest good is like water, which blesses all things. Before it reluctantly leaves China, the Lancang River nurtures the colorful, diverse, and exceptionally beautiful Xishuangbanna—an ideal and magical paradise. The people of Banna’s various ethnic groups live by the river, working and thriving, just as children nestle close to their mother. And the Lancang River, with a gaze full of motherly love and hope, constantly watches over the changes and growth of its children on both banks.

As a native of Xishuangbanna, born and raised, I have in recent years used the camera in my hands with the earnest hope of recording the rapid changes and ever-present wonders happening alongside our Mother River. Someone once said: “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” I would like to say: If my pictures aren’t good enough, it’s because my love isn’t deep enough. The series Riverside (III) is a continuation of Riverside (I) and (II). I persist in walking along both banks of the Lancang River, using my lens to document the different stories and changes that happen every day along its shores. I hope that through this set of images, viewers can feel the change and development of my hometown.

岸 边

澜沧江，是一条发源于中国流经老挝、缅甸、泰国、柬埔寨、越南后进入太平洋的一条国际大河，也是沿岸多民族的母亲河。上善若水，福泽万物，澜沧江在依依不舍地流出国门前，哺育了多彩多姿又异常美丽的西双版纳这块理想而神奇的乐土。版纳各族儿女象依偎母亲一样，依江而居，劳作生息。澜沧江也用饱含母爱和期许的目光，时刻关注着两岸儿女的变化与成长。

作为一名土生土长的西双版纳人，近年来，我用手中的相机，真诚奢望着，能记录下母亲河身边日新月异的变化和无处不在的精彩。曾经有人说过：“你拍得不够好，是因为你离得不够近。”我想说:我拍得不够好，是因为我爱得不够深。《岸边》（三）专题，是延续《岸边》（一）、（二）基础上，坚持行走在澜沧江两岸，用镜头记录下澜沧江沿岸每天都在发生着不一样故事和变迁，希望能够通过这组图片，感受到故乡的变化与发展。

강가(岸边)

란창강(澜沧江)은 중국에서 발원하여 라오스, 미얀마, 태국, 캄보디아, 베트남을 거쳐 태평양으로 흘러가는 국제적인 큰 강이며, 그 주변에 사는 여러 민족의 어머니 강이다. ‘상선약수(上善若水)’처럼 만물을 이롭게 하며, 란창강은 아쉬운 듯 국경을 넘기 전까지 다채롭고 아름다운 시솽반나(西双版纳)라는 이상적이고 신비한 땅을 키워냈다. 반나 각 민족의 자녀들은 어머니에게 기대듯 강가에 정착해 일하며 살아간다. 란창강 또한 어머니의 사랑과 기대 어린 시선으로 양안의 사람들의 변화와 성장을 끊임없이 지켜본다.

토박이 시솽반나 사람으로서, 나는 최근 몇 년간 손에 든 카메라로 진심을 담아 어머니 강 곁에서 일어나는 끊임없는 변화와 그 속의 빛나는 순간들을 기록하고자 했다. 누군가는 이렇게 말했다. “네가 찍는 사진이 충분히 좋지 않은 이유는 충분히 가까이 가지 않았기 때문이다.” 나는 말하고 싶다. 내가 찍은 사진이 충분하지 않은 것은, 내가 사랑한 깊이가 아직 부족하기 때문이라고.

‘강가(岸边)’ (3) 편은 ‘강가(岸边)’ (1), (2)를 잇는 연작으로, 란창강 양안을 계속 걸으며 렌즈에 담은 매일매일 다른 이야기와 변화들을 기록했다. 이 사진들을 통해 고향의 변화와 발전을 함께 느낄 수 있기를 바란다.
