The Island Where the Violet Moon Rises, Jawoldo

Time flows quietly on Jawoldo. The sea breathes softly, and the wind lingers gently as if it has traveled from afar. As the sun sets and the moon rises, the island reveals another face. Beneath the violet moonlight, it speaks many things without words.

Escaping the hurried pace of the city, I slowly adjusted to the island’s rhythm. The feel of shells and fine sand beneath my feet, the salty breeze, and the slow-moving clouds accompanied the passing days. Living through each of these days, I captured the island’s quiet breath through my lens.

This exhibition is a black-and-white record of that time. Stripped of color, the island’s true expressions, textures, light, and shadows emerge more clearly. Like the gentle sound of wind and the quiet waves, I hope the silent resonance of Jawoldo lingers within these black-and-white photographs.

보라빛 달이 뜨는 섬, 자월

자월도의 시간은 조용하게 흐른다. 바다는 낮게 숨을 쉬고, 바람은 멀리서 온 듯 잔잔하게 머문다. 해가 지고 달이 떠오르면 섬은 또 다른 얼굴을 드러낸다. 보랏빛 달빛 아래서 이곳은 말없이 많은 것을 이야기한다.

바쁜 도시의 시간에서 벗어나 천천히 섬의 리듬에 몸을 맞췄다. 조개껍데기와 모래가 발끝에 남긴 감촉, 소금기 어린 바람, 느릿하게 지나가는 구름들을 따라 하루가 흘렀다. 그렇게 이곳의 하루하루를 살아내며 섬의 고요한 숨결을 사진으로 기록했다.

이 전시는 그 시간을 담은 흑백의 기록이다. 색을 덜어낸 흑백 속에서 섬의 본래 표정과 질감, 빛과 그림자가 더욱 또렷하게 드러난다. 부드러운 바람 소리와 고요한 파도처럼, 흑백 사진 속에도 자월도의 조용한 울림이 남아 있기를 바란다.
