The People of My Hometown

“Elders and fellow villagers” (Fulao Xiangqin) includes all who share a common cultural background and regional connection. This form of address emphasizes a sense of intimacy and belonging between people and is a way of expressing deep affection for the people of one’s hometown.

Therefore, “elders and fellow villagers” is not just a geographical concept but an emotional bond that closely connects us to those who hold significant meaning in our lives. Generation after generation, these people are rooted in their own land. They till their plot of land beneath the clouds, tenacious and resilient, giving much and asking for little. They pass on the agrarian civilization and local culture; their wrinkled faces are filled with stories, and their laughter is filled with the local accent. They are simple, down-to-earth, courteous, kind, and warm-hearted. They are busy all day yet are content and happy with their lot. If there are any people in this world who are the most beautiful, it is our elders and fellow villagers.

“Elders and fellow villagers” is not only a concept rich in deep emotional color; it represents both our love for our hometown and native land, and our gratitude and respect for those who hold significant meaning in our lives. Let us draw near to them, document them, and express my longing for them.

父老乡亲包括了所有与自己有共同文化背景和地域联系的人，这种称呼方式强调了人与人之间的亲密感和归属感，是表达对家乡人民深厚情感的一种方式。

因此，父老乡亲不仅仅是一个地域的概念，更是一种情感的纽带，将我们与那些在我们生命中具有重要意义的人紧密地联系在一起。一代代的父老乡亲，扎根在自己的土地上。他（她）们耕云脚下一方土地，顽强坚忍，付出多，所求少。他（她）们传承农耕文明和乡土文化，脸上皱褶里写满故事，笑声中充满乡音。他（她）们纯朴、实在、礼让、善良、热心，他（她）们终日忙碌却知足常乐。如果说在这个世上有没有最美好的人，这就是我们的父老乡亲。

父老乡亲不仅是是一个富有深厚情感色彩的概念，它既代表着我们对家乡和故土的热爱，也代表着我们对那些在我们生命中具有重要意义的人的感激和尊重。让我们走近他（她）们、记录他（她）们、表达我对父老乡亲的思念之情。

부로향친(父老乡亲) : 정든 고향 어른들과 이웃들

‘부로향친’은 나와 같은 문화적 배경과 지역적 연대를 지닌 모든 사람을 아우르는 말입니다. 이 호칭은 사람들 사이의 친밀감과 소속감을 강조하며, 고향 사람들에 대한 깊은 정서를 표현하는 방식이기도 합니다.

따라서 ‘부로향친’은 단순한 지역 개념을 넘어, 우리 삶에 중요한 의미를 지닌 사람들과의 감정적 유대를 상징합니다. 세대를 거쳐 이어져 온 부로향친은 자신이 살아온 땅에 깊이 뿌리를 내리고 있습니다. 그들은 한 뼘의 땅을 부지런히 일구며 강인하고 인내심 있게 살아갑니다. 많은 것을 바치고도, 적은 것을 바라며 살아갑니다.

그들은 농경문명과 향토문화를 전승해오며, 얼굴의 주름마다 이야기가 깃들고, 웃음 속에는 고향의 사투리가 묻어납니다. 순박하고, 진실하며, 예의를 알고, 선하고, 따뜻한 마음을 지닌 이들. 바삐 살아가면서도 항상 만족을 알고, 작은 것에 감사하며 살아가는 이들.

만약 세상에서 가장 아름다운 사람이 누구냐고 묻는다면, 바로 우리의 ‘부로향친’일 것입니다.

‘부로향친’은 단지 정감 어린 말이 아니라, 고향과 고토에 대한 사랑, 그리고 우리 인생에서 소중한 의미를 지닌 이들에 대한 감사와 존경의 표현입니다. 이제 우리 곁의 부로향친에게 다가가, 그들의 이야기를 기록하고, 그들을 향한 그리움을 표현해 봅시다.
